This bit of wisdom from Katie Couric Media. The five things:
- Negative labels and bad names.
- Assumptions.
- Defensive statements.
- “I’m fine” if you’re not.
- If too upset say nothing.
I don’t consider that help, it’s way too general. Here are a few specifics you might be wise to avoid:
- “Stifle yourself Edith!”
- “Who asked you?”
- “Think before you speak, then don’t!”
- “Idiot says what?”
- “For the love of the almighty, STFU!
