Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.00. Do pick up a book.

In Season 5, Episode 15 of Seinfeld Poppy comes out of his restaurant’s bathroom stall having just dropped off the kids at the pool and, without washing his hands, proceeds to the kitchen and makes Jerry a pizza.
Apparently Poppy is not alone in his unsanitary habits. It is estimated one million lives a year could be saved by proper hand washing. A team of researchers in the UK are developing a cheap “tab soap” they hope will make handwashing more accessible to everyone around the world.
In the meantime, enjoy your Pizza, if you dare!

If your travels take you to Edinburgh, Scotland, and you are looking for a place to stay, travel professionals like myself highly recommend The Scotsman Hotel.
We might have loved it for a multitude of reasons:
1. The large well-appointed rooms.
2. Comfortable king bed with beautiful linen.
3. The warmth and efficiency of the staff including being greeted by name by the Bellman when we returned after sightseeing the first day.
4. The prime location; close to the Royal Mile and a short walk to Edinburgh Castle and The Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Actually All these amenities impressed me. What made the Scotsman stand out for Linda? A self-serve dispenser in the lobby containing the best Hot Chocolate ever and no looks of recrimination from the front desk staff regardless of how many times we shamelessly approached the dispenser to refill our cups.
NEXT: The Candy Bowl on the front desk of the Hotel Beauchamps in Paris’ 8th Arrondissement and the bag of sweets the desk staff filled for Linda when we returned in the evening. We all have our own standards by which to judge…

Many of us had a day filled with friends and family and time to reflect on what is really important in life. I think it is time we all stop our incessant whining about minor perceived slights or not getting everything we want how and when we want it.
Accepting that we may not get everything we want is part of being a human being. Acceptance is the key to convert momentary happiness to enduring happiness. It helps you move from feeling happy to actually being happy.
And more important; do as I say, not as I do because if you think I’m going to sit back and smile while a bunch of idiots run wild…Oh, that didn’t take long.
Sorry. Every day in every way I’m getting better and better…

OK. I’ll spring for the $29.00. But if, in the chapter on what won’t make you happy they list Money, I’ll shout “B.S.” and demand a full refund. The wealthy have been trying to sell that to the masses for hundreds of years and that’s a ton of baloney I’m not buying!

Every day, every single day, I receive 10 to 30 emails telling me that there is a package stuck in customs or a bad address on the label or possibly a high value item that requires a tax deposit and asking me to click on a link that will no doubt download a virus to shut down my computer requiring a large payment to fix. To this point I have recognized the scams and not fallen into their trap.
The problem is I delete so many emails by rote that I feel I might be missing some real opportunities like the one I just caught. Seconds before deleting it I read the sad tale of a Nigerian Prince that is trying to get some money out of the country to start a better life for him and his family. For simply providing him an account in which to transfer the money he will give me a small percentage, small to him, but actually about $5 million dollars.
Frightening to think those rat-bastard scammers might have prevented me from getting paid a fortune for the small task of fronting a few thousand dollars.

In homes across our great nation people are gathering today to celebrate the first winter the settlers spent in the new world. It is a time for reflection; a time to take a short pause in our busy lives to express gratitude for all we have; (and by “we” I mean those that live above the poverty line). In some homes we tell the story of how we massacred and tried to obliterate an entire indigenous race, herding the remaining decimated ranks into unforgiving lands called reservations. But that’s only one way to look at this most cherished of holidays.
In Texas and Florida they celebrate the Thanksgiving Feast by remembering it differently. They tell about how when the Mayflower landed the indigenous tribes were all packed and ready to move west to the barren regions they were hoping to call their home. Thanksgiving dinner celebrates the Pilgrims honoring their hosts by assisting them in their impending move to the reservation. The celebrants would be happy to show you where this is recorded in the history books if they hadn’t banned the books and, as they called it, “set the record straight.”
Ha Ha! Just kidding. Enjoy your turkey!

And guess who is the tour sponsor; the AARP! That means we old codgers who were listening to the Rolling Stones before you were even a twinkle in your mother’s eye, get first shot at tickets in an early bird sale event. We can purchase up to 8 tickets between 10:00AM November 29th and 10:00PM November 30th.
There will also be adjustments to the show schedule. In deference to the band members, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards (both turning 80 this year), and Ron Wood (75), the performances will begin at 6:00PM with the Las Vegas Dinner Shows starting at 4:30PM. The concert promoters have guaranteed you can enjoy a full show and the mini-van will get you back to the home in time for “Lights Out” at 9:30PM.
R.I.P Charlie Watts. We will toast your memory with a glass of prune juice, neat!
