     Me Too!
     This quote from Andy Bernard in The Office expresses a universal truth; that we must embrace every moment of every day because we may be living the best day ever!
      That said, I think we can all agree these are not the good old days.  Look around.  A gridlocked congress run by cry-babies, a crumbling infrastructure, rampant inflation and the Kardashians.  It’s  more like an ongoing nightmare from which we cannot awake!

But no worries.  I’m sure the good old days are just around the corner!

This quote is by Shel Silverstein from his book of poems and drawings “Where the Sidewalk Ends.”

I feel a special kinship with Shel as the similarities between our lives are remarkable; almost unfathomable. We both were born in Chicago; are males, went bald; the months of our birth both end in “…ember” (September and December); He is buried at Westlawn Cemetery in Norridge, Illinois, which covers 72 acres (confirmed in Wikipedia) and I am 72 years old (ok, that’s a bit of a stretch); but most eerie of all is that I also had to make all the magic I have known…with only one notable exception: someone else made my signature magic trick of pulling a quarter out your ear.  But I did figure out how to do it on my own and just last year!

Hopefully ending this round of nasty campaigning will also end the scores of emails asking for donations.  I am very fortunate (?) to be on the list of both democrats and republicans so I get twice as many.  And with all the shameless begging people become desensitized and forget to donate to the people who are truly in need.

I assume that’s why you are all ignoring my request for a “loan?”

OOPS!  That’s me.  All those subversive left-wing ideas like empathy and humanity that lead to the horrors of  affordable healthcare for our citizens, free education, Social Security for those that have paid in all their lives, allowing a woman to control her own body, feeding our hungry children; you know, what every other civilized nation does.

Or the alternative party; the minions, (aka racist, xenophobic fraidy-cats) of a straw-headed dictator wannabe whose qualifications are being a world-class narcissist, sociopath, liar and recently caught classified document thief. 

Seems like a simple choice to me.  

That’s the email ad I received from hearing Aid Advice.  The ad included a beautiful aryan blond fraulein wearing the device.  I could almost hear Colonel Klink and Sergeant Schultz doing the commercial:
          “You WILL buy these hearing aids or it will not go well for you.  We have ways to make you hear!    Buy it now or we invade France!  Special discount for all Yeshiva students. Don’t be a hero Colonel Hogan, or no strudel for you tonight! “

Can you believe the following was true about the U.S.A.?

• Political parties actually worked together to come to a compromise?
• Politicians actually put the good of the country before gaining personal wealth.
• The political dialogue was more than vile name-calling.
• We used our taxes to build infrastructure and not line the pockets of wealthy donors.
• Fox news tried to give the impression of being a real news organization.
• We lived the words on The Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” 
• The Supreme Court was not a cabal of fanatics making decisions based on their religious doctrine over The Constitution.
•  A Douchebag was a grooming appliance and not an apt description of 90% of our legislature.
• There were no Blogs where angry old curmudgeons could rant rather than actually doing something.

SHUT UP!

The History Channel listed these 7 places:

Seems to me THC missed the most obvious place; one filled with evil, malevolent spirits, both living and dead: Mar-a-Lago.

Hahahahahahaha!  It never gets old, does it?

Actually I fell behind my daily post so this is a phony title to see if anybody is reading it.  But, if you do care enough to actually read this I will offer you a special gift!

No money of course but something even better.  It is the same gift the Dalai Lama gave Carl Spackler when he stiffed him after Carl was his caddy for 18 holes.  He told Carl that on his death bed he would know total consciousness; and now, so will you!  

So you got that going for you, which is nice!

     For those of you who are unfamiliar with these or do not have Google, like me, these are the 4 virtues from Plato’s Republic.  It was Plato’s thought that living these virtues are the epitome of ethical practice and life. 
     Interestingly they seem to refute the four points of the Republican’s Republic; Ignorance – Fear – Excess – Authoritarianism.
     It would be nice if the politicians in Washington, DC, read the book but darn, there is so many big words!  They are going to stick with the Cliff’s Notes of Mein Kampf!

…but seriously, can you believe it’s November already?
